Khyati Zala, MSN, FNP-C, PMHNP-C

Khyati Zala, FNP-C, PMHNP-C (She/Her) is a dual board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner and Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. Ms. Zala received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Hofstra University. She received her Master of Nursing and Master of Science in Nursing (Family Nurse Practitioner) degrees from Case Western Reserve University before completing her Post-Master’s Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner training at Sacred Heart University. For Khyati, specializing in psychiatry was a homecoming, bringing together her longstanding interest in human behavior and the mind-body connection with her extensive foundation in medicine.

As a quadrilingual Bronx-born and raised New Yorker with experience living abroad, Khyati brings cultural competence and a deep appreciation for the ways identity, family, community, and lived experience shape mental health. Her experiences across different cultures have strengthened her ability to connect with patients from diverse backgrounds and inform her commitment to culturally sensitive, LGBTQIA+-affirming, and trauma-informed care. Her clinical interests include depression, anxiety, panic disorders, complex PTSD, and trauma.

Khyati's dual certification allows her to approach psychiatric care through both a medical and psychiatric lens, recognizing that physical and mental health are deeply interconnected. Her style is conversational, straightforward, educational, and collaborative, with an emphasis on evidence-based treatment and shared decision-making. She views medication as a valuable tool when clinically appropriate while prioritizing lifestyle foundations and minimizing unnecessary polypharmacy. Above all, she strives to create a safe, judgment-free environment where patients feel heard and understood, and can work collaboratively with her to develop a treatment plan that evolves with one’s own individual needs.

Outside of medicine, Khyati is a lifelong dancer with three decades of training in Indian classical and folk dance. She is also an avid world traveler, yogi, and proud dog mom to a spirited rescue pup. She is excited to be a part of the dynamic, patient focused team at Modern Integrative Psychiatry.
